For the Love of Reading...

One of my fondest family memories is reading with my mom when I was little.

Mom...
lovingly sketching out and coloring 3x5 blank index cards
 of shapes, colors, and the alphabet before school age was even near.
Covering them in clear contact paper,
sitting down, and going through them with us.

Mom...
letting my sister and I spend our summer days at the library.
Bringing home bags full of books.
Ones that she would sit down and read with us.

Mom...
who on our summer vacation road trips,
would let us take a box of 40+ picture books to read on the way.
Always finding a place in the suburban for them to fit.

It is because of my mom that I learned the love of reading.
It is because of her that I still love reading today and teaching it to my students,
and by God's grace...
one day teaching my own children to read they way she taught me.

Thank You Mom,
for the gift that lasts a lifetime and
for the beautiful memories of time spent with you that I'll keep forever.
Love Your Daughter,
Cole

What is one of your fondest memories?
Do you love to read? Have any good books to share?

Have a Beautiful Day,

What I Love...{number 3}

Hi There!! {waves}
I hope you had an amazing day today.
We actually had a cold snap from our 103+ temperatures.
It was only.....
.
.
.
.
.
Wait for it...
.
.
.
.

In the mid to upper 90's. {snort}.

It's still hot. Even as I type this and it's almost 9 p.m.
But, I'd much rather have the heat than the cold and yucky weather.

I am going to share what I'm reading right now.

1. Jesus Calling by Sarah Young
~This has been a daily read and I must say it hits where needed and encourages.

2. Summer with Matthew Mead
~The pictures alone are inspiring and make me want to re-decorate.

3. Twelve Extraordinary Women by John MacArthur
~Our Women's Group is reading this at Church and it is fantastic.
We just finished the chapter on Ruth which is one of my faves.

What are you reading lately?
Do you have a favorite book, magazine, or devotional?

Have a Beautiful Day,
Cole

Oh My Reading Heart {teacher/homeschool/loveofbooks}

Have I mentioned lately that I love the written word?!
I also love, love, love to read!

Yesterday, I began and finished a book in one two sittings.

Oh. Muh. Word.
I couldn't put it down.

So, so much to this book that I loved...
that spoke volumes.
{It might have to be a separate blog post}

So, I got to thinking...
as a teacher that loves to read and teach reading. {wink}
I have a fantastic website for you to use.

It's great for the classroom.
Great for the Homeschooling family.
Great for someone looking for a new way to read books.

It is called Storyline Online.

It is by the Screen Actors Guild Society...
and they have actors/actresses reading aloud their favorite children's storybooks.
Not only do they read the books out-loud, but they also show the pages of the story in a movie like way.
{You'll have to check it out to see what I mean.}
And....it's free!

I use this site in my classroom to show students how to read and present in front of an audience.
They love it!

Tell me....
What is your favorite children's book?

Have a Lovely Day,
Cole
