Which would you choose?

First of all,
can I just say that I am loving today!...
The fact that it's a Holiday...
schools are closed...
it's an opportunity to relax and just be.

To take some time...
reading for fun...
Planning blog posts...
finish some guest posts...
sew...
Maybe even...
spend the day in pj's (shhh...) and enjoy a movie.
The possibilities are endless.

One thing I am doing...
is thinking of a creative way...
to re-work this mirror chalkboard...

photo property of Simply Created by Cole

Plans didn't go as I thought...
{life has a way of doing that huh?}
But, this gorgeous mirror chalkboard...
will get a second chance.

It could be:
*spray painted with black chalkboard paint
*covered with fabric cork board to make a message center
*turned into a dry erase board
{see this great site here}
*or, remove the mirror chalkboard and use as an open frame

So many choices.
Which would you choose??

Have a lovely day!

Lights, Camera, Action {Mirror, Mirror}

It all started...
{cue lights}
The ole' noggin began a thinkin'...
{cue camera}
Then I found this:
{action}

Which of course I had tinted...

in the lovely "coffee" color (no surprise there) ;)

I prepared the mirror and painted the first coat...
(had a sinking gut feeling this may not cooperate, but I kept on)
...never know right?

Painted a few more coats...
letting dry a day in-between each...
(umm....still not so sure, but I'm not a quitter)

Took the painters tape off three days later and here's the result...

Seriously? It's like super thick nail polish that you can peel off in one coat.
No disrespect to the paint company...
Just something went wrong.
Maybe I missed a step?
Maybe it was too hot?
Too humid?
(it did rain a few of those days)
Maybe I had the wrong kind of brush?

Is it trash?
No
Is it a failure?
No
Am I just gonna give up on it?
No

I still believe something beautiful can come out of it...
So, is the story over?
Nope...
Just a re-write of sorts.
A second chance.
A sequel...

To become something beautiful...

I'll be posting my new ideas for this story on Monday!
Come on over and let me know your vote...
or any DIY hints/tips for brush-on chalkboard paint.

Have a lovely day!

A tale of two mirrors {picture update}

Once upon a time...
there was this U.G.L.Y. Mirror
found on a secret mission weekend...

Ugly brass, but with some great detail just waiting to be noticed...

Along came Heirloom White spray paint and this happened...

Which took the place of this mirror...

And *shined* like this in its place...

Yet...it still really didn't fit...
Something was missing...

So, the first mirror came back...
hijacked the ORB (Oil Rubbed Bronze) spray paint and did this...
(notice the hammer...whoopsie!)

Which hurried in its excitement and didn't cover well enough...
so it was left with  some haze on the glass!
But no fear, this "prince" took it off...

Love those Mr. Clean sponges (p.s. my own opinion, not paid for it.) :)

And now it shines as this...

Which I love!
See closer...

So, what happened to this??

Keep checking in to see what becomes of it!
Hint***
cute, sassy, functionality

If you want some great spray paint tips and tricks head over to The Thrifty Decor Chick. She can ROCK a can of paint and turn anything into a masterpiece. As for the mirror ideas, the bronze mirror came from a "whim" and I've seen ornate mirrors spray painted on different blogs. Just can't remember which ones. My Google Reader is in the hundreds peeps. :)

Have a lovely day!
